Explore Tahoe: An Urban Trailhead

South Lake Tahoe, California

The conversion of an existing transit center facility at the base of Heavenly Village Ski Resort and adjacent to Hwy 50 provides an optimum location to expose passers-by to the beauty and fragility of the Lake Tahoe watershed region. The project, conceived in conjunction with EDAW, Inc., conveys key environmental information in an artistic and modern style befitting the more urban location of the transit center. Exhibits include wall-size graphics, a glowing "water wall", sculptural glass canopy, and three-dimensional sculpture representing the watershed and bathymetry of Lake Tahoe.
