The Northwest Tidepool Exhibit replicates the rugged shoreline of the North Pacific Coast -- cliffs, rocky beaches, tidepools, driftwood and surf. A wave-generation machine simulates the rhythmic crashing of waves against the carved-out rocks and demonstrates the unique adaptations of the sea creatures in response to the tremendous ocean force. A blow-hole adds a surprise, often spraying visitors as they assemble along the viewing rail.
